Reflection on Da Word- graffiti artist

Before you get going on blogging about technology and its relationship to popular/sub popular culture, I'd like you to briefly reflect on the Da Word graffiti artist by Tonouchi. What isues do you think he raises? What issues did you like or dislike about what he says? What did you think about the language he uses and what questions did this reading raise for you?

you

you guys bore me

just blogging

What I liked about the blogger post was that we can all just put down our opinions for everyone to see and its more comfortable to write it down than to say it for some people. With the blogger post it also fun to see what people have to say. I believe everyone is entitled to their own belief on technology. So people are entitled to critique technology. Technology is very helpful and it makes things more convenient in my opinion and like any other thing technology has its cons and pros. I would have like the blogger to write more on the use of technology but in general it was good. Technology will continue to be in our daily lives and it will keep improving making life easier and more convenient.

?!?!?!?!

i see people texting and it makes me want to text

bloggin : )

What I really liked about the blogging is that you can blog about what you think and your opinions on the topics.

i'm sick of blogging

My PoInT of viEw..xD

Each of the bloggers has different perspective and they both defend his or her point o view. One of them said that the story of Haki was a waste of time and that there are betters things to do rather than graffiti. The other blogger feels related to Haki because he is a graffiti Guy. I have no idea on how to read a graffiti is kind of difficult..Lol they write in code style. I could say that my post is kind off related to the one of S.FLORES 1691 because I would like that people or society see the Graffiti’s guys as real artists and no like people who made vandalism acts.

To dependent on Technology

I believe now a days people are way to dependent on technology. Everywhere you turn around you see someone on a cell phone, listening to their ipod or playing around on a computer. I know for a fact I depend on technology way to to much. If I don’t have my cell phone I can’t function right. I always have to be texting or talking on my phone. I remember one time when my cell phone wasn’t working I literally cried. Why are people so dependent on technology? I believe some people are so dependent on technology because they believe it makes life easier, for example I much rather text someone then to call them and have a conversation on the phone. Sometimes it makes it easier to express yourself. But technology can also come in handy, sometimes it makes paying bills online easier, researching information can be quicker and easier than having to look up the information out of a book, all you have to do is sign on your computer and google anything you want. We may be way to dependent on technology but it sure does come in handy.

Really =/

FACEBOOK IS DISTRACTING ME FROM DOING MY WORK!!!!

Bloggers critique of pop/sub culture?

Bloggers critique of pop/ sub culture in relation to technology is a way to express thoughts about everything and anything in general.

What I think about blogging..

What I think about blogging is that you can write about what you feel about what the question's are asking you, and that you can be straight forward about it. I like the way we write what comes to mind, and how others can respond t0 it.

popular culture

The technology that I think is so problematic is the computer. One of the reason why is because so many people in our society tend to take something so great like the computer and use it in such an awful selfish ways. We see how our identity can be stolen in seconds just by a simple press of a button. In the other hand we use this technology to benefit us in our daily lives.

This popular culture in using the computer has also made me realize how creative and fun it can be by using this modern technology. It helps me up to date with the latest trends in music, clothes, and other new gadgets for young and old to enjoy.

Thoughts

Technology Literate? Means 2 be savy with 2days technology. Social etiquette as you put it does not exist in my mind when talking about the internet .A computer shows little or no emotion when it comes to making a statement. I could type a statement then say the same statemen and I know im not gonna get the same response because theres a huge difference from saying and typing. All of this nonsense of people being offended by what other people write on the web..dont read it, go look at something else, pay it no mind, don’t accept the comments that are being posted so everyone can see if in fact you do have a problem with something someone said. GET OVER IT. If what is said isn’t true it shouldn’t bother you in the first place. Lol I’m no better writing this in a blog right now but idc if no1 reads or likes what I have 2 say, these are my thoughts and there not for anyone else but myself 2 agree with, I don’t say things for people I say things for me. If you don’t like it don’t read it. If you do like it..Good looks ;) A girl could tell me she loves me on aim and it wouldn’t be nearly the same as if she said it to my face and that is my point about social etiquette among the internet. Technology is taught thru practice. You learn in class, learn at home, learn at a friend’s house and learn from experience. Technology has its own culture with way of writing and facebook, myspace, twitter youtube all that, people take these things way to serious and make it a part of there life/culture.

Iphones are crazy :]

I don’t have an iPhone but I wish I did, so that’s the reason why I decided to save up for it. The iphone is my addiction that I would love to have my hands on at all times. All the different apps you can get and all the different use of the iphone is amazing. Once I thought Technology couldn’t get further then what they have gone, the apple company once again proved me wrong. Many of my friends have the iphone and when ever I get the chance to use it I take advantage of it to try and discover something new about it since it’s always getting updated with new apps. It is incredible how just a phone went from a use of communication to a camera, From a camera to a video recorder, From a video recorder to an mp3. Now it’s just like a miniature lap top that you can’t go wrong with unless you can’t pay the bills. Lost of communication should never be a problem now and days unless you decide to make it lost because with an iphone you can track down anyone to anything from people to subjects and objects or places. Technology is GREAT! You could never no longer be bored with one of these bad boys on your side.

i cant keep up!

I use many kinds of technology cellphone, ipod, computers, video games, cameras, and there is so much more I can’t even think about it on the top of my head. In my opinion face book is the new MySpace and using the one time use Kodak camera is a thing of the past.i feel that technology is changing day by day everytime you turn around theres a new website just bringing everyone together such as twitter, facebook, myspace, and xanga. Most people say who uses my space anymore??Because about four years ago I couldn’t go 30 minutes without checking my MySpace now I'm so into face book I don’t even know my myspace password anymore. That’s because technology is always changing when I was about 8 wears old cd players were the new thing , everyone had a cd player and it cost about 50 dollars to get one them u have to buy the cd album which costed u another 10—15 dollars dollars depending on the how popular the artist is if the artist was unpopular u were able to buy a cd for 8 dollars. After the cd player I believe came the ipod then the ipod touch , then iphone I cant keep up with all this technology its really a pain in the ass I waste my money on it all the time so I don’t like to use my money on the same gadget which is just a little more advanced than the last one they came up with 5 months ago. I mean if it someone else’s money like my parents I could care less but the older I get the more my parents have stopped buying things for me. So I am not up completely 100 percent fully up to date with everything that is “in” now.My ipod is the one from last year , my laptop ive had it for the last four years, I'm still playing xbox and ive had my camera since I was 14 and even though that most of my gadgets are out of date they still work just the same as anything new that is coming out in the future. I mean who am I trying to impress with how fancy my technology is?

Digtal way of communicating

The digital technology I use every day is my cell phone. I use it for emergency. But mostly for texting. Other technology’s I use is my laptop, which I use to browse through the internet.

Technology has impact my life mostly because it is a easier way to communicate. By talking on the phone or instant messaging it is an easier way to get your point across. Another way is by going on your computer and messaging friends, family, or jobs by e-mails.

There are many ways you can communicate on the internet, for example, facebook, myspace are two of the most popular sites to social with people.
Another site that encourages people to meet new people are dating websites. For example tagged and Plenty of fish.
The car and the music, has continued to change over decades from records to the mp3. From the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost of 1906 to the Rolls Royce Phantom of 2010. Technology has made our lives faster, smoother, easier. The mp3 is a part of pop culture almost everyone has one, and why not, it holds any song you want, it stores up to as many tunes as you want (depending on the memory unit you buy; gb). You could listen to it as loud as you want with or without having to hear what your listening to. You could blast the volume up so you dont have to hear anybody else but your music (ex: your parents). As for the car it gets you from point A to point B. As good as walking is for your health, a car makes your life so much easier (especially during the winter) can't afford a car, use a bus.

Why do we depend on tech when tech should depend on you???

There’s a list of ways for intercommunication in today’s society. When it comes to internet, the cyberspace, you have Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Hi5, formspring, etc. These websites are just for non-formal communication but it takes away from formal interaction which I feel is a downside to the world today. When words are written in cyberspace, they have more than just a definition. They more meaning and these words expresses feelings. For example, writing LMAO in caps is showing that you think it’s funnier than writing lmao.

blah blah blah

An technology I use every day would have to be my cell phone. I use it very way impossible for example I use it to keep stay in contact with my friends, I also check it almost every morning to wake me up and also to check the weather. Another technology I use a lot is my lab top I use it for the internet and homework.

FAcEboOK Iz My AddiCtIoN..:D

I have and addicTion to tHis social networking..I Cant leave home if I haven’t check or update mY status..! I likE to see whAt people wriTe and thiNk abouT me..i know mostly all the people I haVe as friends…Many pErsons say I don’t haVe a life..but I do have one..xD lol. wE live in a worLd that is globalized so evertyhinG have his good or bad sTuff. Another of my addiction is my cellphone it can live without him I text every single time.

Technology

To be technologically literate means that you know understand and know how to operate technology devices, such as a cell phone, a computer, an iPod, etc. Today, facebook is huge in the pop culture world. People in their early teens to people in their 50’s are on facebook communicating and reconnecting with their friends, family, and colleagues. Right now, the “blackberry” is very popular. The blackberry is considered a smart phone which allows you to surf the web and access many different apps on your phone that you can benefit you in everyday life, and bring you entertainment. The technology we have today gives us a huge advantage in our lives. Today with the internet, we have access to pretty much anything at the tip of our fingers. You can find almost anything on the internet. Before the internet, students who would have to write reports would go to the library and take out multiple books and receive all their information from those books. Today, you can type in a simple topic on Google, or other search engines and you can have hundreds maybe even thousands of pages with information. In today’s society if you are technologically illiterate you could be considered “behind”. Technology has such an impact on todays and the futures society. A lot of people consider it to be a disadvantage if you are not technologically literate.

My addiction

The type of technology that I use is my cellphone. I feel like I can’t go anywhere without it and I have to have my phone with me at all times. I’m always texting so it’s basically my addiction. I hate when I’m going to send a text and it won’t go through because I have no service at the certain place where I’m at. I also have my ipod with me at all times because I love listening to music. I can’t leave my house if I don’t have it with me. So basically my two addictions are my cellphone and my ipod!

scooop on technology

For me, being technologically literate is keeping up to date with the times. Cell phones ipods computers whatever it may be, as long as the world keeps spinning new and more advanced products will be produced every single day. It’s crazy how things come out like this but they do so as long as you keep up to date with all of this, its much easier to survive in life. Think about adults having to pay bills. If you don’t know how to pay bills online or buy products online, it makes it THAT much more difficult to get these freakin things or to keep them from getting re-po’d. Now if you’re not up to date with all of this, there’s ways in finding out how to enlighten yourself. You can take courses online, and if you dont know how to go online because your that far back well.. then you can always read what’s in the news papers or go old school and buy a Book.( rough I know) haha

My veiw of tech

technology literate means yu kno how to use technology very well! um technology is like the cookies in a cookie jar tht yu want so bad and wen yu have it a new cookie comes and yu forget bout the old one!! its is taught to be the main thing tht is used in almost every day life it is like the heart of the united states!!!! i find certain cell fones and laptops very problematic in many areas as well as bat power look durability and radius or signal strength!!!!
The language for me is fun to read and it makes the story more interesting.

Heaven spot

On Da Word graffiti artist by Tonouchi has been a whole different view of writing, including on the way things are spell and pronounce. It mentions a few words that only a few can understand, the only few who know the graffiti culture like I. I feel that I can relate to Haki, I myself am a graffiti artist that went through a few struggle as well who is indecisive on the world of art and technology. I as well have my parents helping me decide what I want to do in my life, I want to reach that heaven spot that haki mentions with graff. The heaven spot that is mention is a high spot like a top building and doing your piece and I myself would reach a high spot in my life to be known and get respect.

GraFfITI aRTISt..xD

On da word Graffiti Artist by Tonouchi the issues that Haki raised are that he wanted that the society see his drawings as a Real Art and no as a act of vandalism. He said that his masterpiece
could be gone in a day or three because people use to cover it with paint. Society should appreciate this kind of art.

da word

I think da word by tonouchi, issues were about being different and the challenges that come along with those differences and also making a difference like haki said to coco.

different way of speaking a langauge

This reading is a little difficult to understand. The language that is used is very different then what I speak. The language he is speaking is called Hawaiian Pigeon. Everyone has their own way of speaking a language.

Da Word

He raises many issues about his life like, family matters, his cousin dying, money, and school.

IDK

The issue he raised for me was showing how different people’s lives are from one another and I liked hearing about and reading text that was from a different culture than what I was used to, his being Hawaiian. His language was something similar to what my generation uses in everyday text messaging, and he used it as a primary language every day. The question his language raised for me is this; The Language he uses is very different to us but normal to him and his people, my question is does our language we use sound weird or strange to him in comparison to his?

Bad English

The language that was used in graffiti artist seems foreign to me. Like now a days, people use a copout in writing. What happened to our dignity in speaking and writing? I thinks because we in general are so caught up in being looked open being cool, we actually make ourselves look not so smart.

Da wooooorddd

On Da Word graffiti artist by Tonouchi. Some of the issues he raises are really for a small amount of people to really truly understand. The people that really understand are the ones who actually graffiti. It's a whole different world out there that most wouldnt even know what there.

not enough time to finish but thats what i got so far.

blaAAh blaAAh blAAAah!!!!

Reading da word made me feel like Haki is a waste of time. He wants to be like his dead cousin coco a famous graffiti artist but in reality how many famous graffiti artist do you know? I don’t even think artist are famous like Vincent van goor anything like that. Haki thinks that going to school is a waste of time and effort but I think that he walking around with this dream of being a graffiti artist is silly. I also hate how everything is spelled in here I hate the pronunciation of words it just makes the reading difficult for me to read let alone pronounce.

Issues on graffiti artist

From Da Word graffiti artist by Tonouchi, the issues that he raises is that people see him as one vandalist because he does graffiti. He also hates when people write over other people’s art work. Society see graffiti artist in a different way like they’re doing something bad.

I like it!

I had my eyes on the fact he took the time to write this book when not too many people know about Pop Culture. Just like English, graffiti has its own language and that’s what he explains in this novel. When writing this novel he expresses himself to the full extent.

My P0$t ayyyyyyy

I feel he raises issues on the life family matters and school. I dislike the issue of his parents forcing him to go to school. I do like the fact tht he has relative’s tht he can go to for advice! I think the way he writes its different it says a lot about his emotions and feelings. This reading makes me wonder if it’s possible tht everyone has a different way of writing them language to express themselves in the letters they use!!

My Technology

Two types of technology that I use are my navigation system and my cell phone. I really like my navigation system because it always gets me where I need to go. I have never had a problem with it taking me to the wrong destination. The part about it that bothers me though is that, I know it’s making me very lazy by having access to it. I’m never truly going to learn my way around NY! I also get pretty annoyed when she repeats stuff, I tend to curse and yell at it as if it is a real person. As for my cell phone, I just feel the need to have it with me at all times pretty much. This seems kind of crazy to me because I know there was a big chunk of my life where a cell phone did not exist, so what’s the big need for it now? It almost gives me a feeling of security knowing that I have my cell phone with me and I can call someone at a moments notice if need be.

cars and new comps

Technology is kool but at the same time I hate it because It ether make stuff ezer for work or life like advanced computers in cars makes driving a lot eazer .but when I go and work on that car and I don’t have to 30 thousand dollar computer I need to read the cars computer I get mad I love driving my moms Benz its awesome the car can do almost anything sept drive itself and have a convo with u. but I need to take it to a shop that cost top top top dollar to tell me that it needs oil or a dam tire rotation that when technology pisses me off.

Its getting really pop its technology used all around the world cars are used every were and the newer they get the crazier the options and crazier the technology gets. You need a really expensive computer to read the computers in the new cars. It’s just getting crazy but it is a new thing going on and it will continue due to that fact that everyone drives a car they will always be on the road and maybe in the air too. but there will be no need for the mom and pop mechanics every one will need like a dr in cars to fix em. So it is a new and ongoing thing

Its getting to the point where u will need a degree to work on a car and u will need a dagree in computers. Its hard to fix them not with out them I have seen the advancements that the car comps have gone through its come from a big box to a littlele hand held no it’s a flat screen comp that comes in a big snapon box and cost 30 grand .

my hommies :D

The two types of technology that I most use are my cell phone and my computer; I think I would die without of them, they help me look for any information I need and help me to stay in contact with my family and friends. My cell phone is like my best friend, when I am out of my house and there’s something that catch up my attention, I use my phone right away and it give me all the information I need. My computer helps me a lot with my homework and to look for any other type of things that I get interested with. For example every time that im not doing nothing at home I used the computer to check my emails, to play in facebook (laughs), and I use the webcam to see part of my family who live in my country.

one thing many uses

In this day technology has been changing in the history. One of the most important and successful invent of the technology is the cell phone. This is used by everyone and in different ways. Cell phone had a big impact in our society. For example, the cell phone is used for most of people. Children of 9 years old have already have cell phones. The cell phones are very useful. You can use to call, to text message, take pictures, watch your favorite programs, GPS, listen to music, write notes, check your email and more.

Technologies. good or bad?

In today’s society, the increasing use of technology is diverging the ways we think, write, live, and develop as a human being . Because, today most people are using different types of technology for many things to develop themselves or to do the opposite. For example, the iphone is one of the most popular technologies in today’s society. It gives you many ways to make your life easier and do some things better. Personally, I think it goes in the category of being a pop culture. Because everyone has access and many people use them for everyday life. it is a very popular technology and also a useful one. Another technology that I consider pop and sub cultural is the web browser (GOOGLE). Because is a very useful and it gives you many ways to develop yourself as a person it today’s society. But, at the same time when is used the wrong way can be dangerous to us . Because with the development of this technology, in my opinion, comes a threaten factor that government wants to be in control of their citizens. Sometimes they develop a supposedly new way for you to do some things but ,when you investigate them deeply you are giving the all your personal information and i think that is wrong. :)

The world is ours

I guess it crazy how we can have the internet in our hands. We can do everything on our phone that we would be able to do on our home computer. I believe there are phones now that you can have a video chat with another person if they have the same phone. We went from beepers to have the world in our hands. I think it’s a positive thing because communication got better then it was just 10yrs ago.
Xbox live how advance sports games, and other games look. You can play with anyone in the world. It keeps getting advance, within a yr you can play your Xbox with no remotes everything is motion censored. So instead of just seating down, now you have to get up and move around. Which create people to work out in a fun way? Which I think it’s a positive thing, because now playing on live is not a sit down situation it’s a work out thing. Which creates people who are overweight to challenge themselves? Because playing sports games will be more realistic, it’s like playing another person on the basketball courts. Plus when you play online people don’t like losing, it’s a competitive.

The Wonders Of technology!

The cell phone to me is a great source of technology because it helps you get in touch with people when they are not home it helps my mom find me and check in with me when I’m not home and I with her when she is not home. I would probably die without my cell phone because it has everything built into one and I love to text my friends and talk to people when I’m bored. Also i don’t think people realize how much a cell phone really helps in missing people cases because they use the phone to track where they last were, who they last spoke to and for how long so cell phones really have good use besides talking and texting.
The computer/internet is also an AMAZING source to have because you can do anything on it and you can search for anything you want it’s all there at the tip of your fingertips if I didn’t have my laptop I would most definitely without a doubt die because I do absolutely everything on their, I’m on my laptop all day from when I wake up to when I go to sleep and if I’m not home to be on it I’m on my phone looking for something because I like to find something to know because I like to always know the answer to something and the computer helps me do that quick and easily and then I can retain that information and be happy.

Today’s technology.

The new technologies are taking us far away. The cell phones are tools that let you communicate with anybody around the world. The cell phone became so popular because is something that you can carry in your package making easier to use it everywhere you are at, also new technology helps improve the signal. The battery is becoming smaller that it has to be charge two or three hours and is able to be used all day long.

Good and bad of technology.

Two types of technology I can think of right away are computers and cellular telephones. Computers are used in peoples everyday life. To check email, communicate, and so much more. Cell Phones are another type of technology that are used every day. Cell phones are obviously used to communicate, but now days your cellular telephone can be used as your own mini personal computer with all the features it has. All these things technology introduces could also have a negative effect on today’s society. For example, people are always playing with there phone in some way when there is something important to pay attention to, getting work done, or even sitting in class.
Tattooing is a big part of underground/popular culture. There are millions of reasons why people get tattoos. Some people believe that your body is an art canvas, also people get tattoos to remember a person who passed away. And some people just get tattoos because they like the meaning of something. Tattoos is a trend I see that will never disappear .

people treat tecnology better then your spouse

Some technology? My cell phone is a like an unattached brain. It guides me holds my daily plains, keeps me connected to the world and family, stores all my girlfriends and also gets me in trouble. Without it I feel like I forgot something until I have it, caring my phone is like putting on boxer’s. Then my car….. Which is my girlfriend I take her out on the regular and spend lots of time with her I clean her and feed her all the time even named her. She keeps me on time and never running late. I think ever guy has named their car a she and does not let any females drive her. Majority of people today can’t function without some technology not be able to understand new technology makes you feel order. People use to be able to open the box and use their new phone now they have to read pages of directions just to use have of their iphone.

Technoloy

The two types of technology I use are: facebook, and my cell phone. I’m always on either one of those. It’s really sad how much I use my phone for everything I do. It can be just looking up how to spell a word and my phone will help me out. Now with facebook, everyone is on facebook im always talking to someone on there or I see a new post on there I am addicted. These two types of technology I think are party of popular culture because everyone has a cell phone or facebook. But I feel that if there was no facebook or phones life would be a lot simpler in the way that no one would know where you are at all times. I wish I can go back and never make a facebook or ever have a cell phone I would live in peace knowing that no one can get a hold of me at all times. The fact that little kids now have cell phones and facebook’s are a little ridiculous that someone at the age of 7 has a cell phone that is more high tech than the phone I have. I never had a cell phone at the age of 7 I only just got a really nice cell phone this year and I’m 20. My parents always knew where I was I didn’t have a cell phone at the young of an age. Even young kids on facebook I think is wrong, facebook was meant for college students to keep in touch after college, not to know what “Kelly” is wearing and how drunk she is going to get. Facebook has now become into a joke I think, I only keep mine to keep in touch with old friends from elementary school or my friends from High School.

IPHONE UNDERGROUND

The technology that is introduced into society today I believe either is accompanied by or even creates it own popular and even a sub culture along with it. For example: an iphone. With all cellular phones, all items individuals try to personalize them with their own individual “touch”, whether it is a ringtone, a case and even the background of the phone. With an iphone; as apple has done in the past creates an abundance of accessories for personalization of their items, with that it creates a certain group of people, and with some seeing the iphone as an upgrade to your status. From the cost of the phone itself beginning at about $250.00Base price, to minimum of around $120.00 A month as the monthly bill. Within the iphone, it has an app store that has multiple apps that has chat applications that you can only join with owning an iphone. Creating an even more sub-culture within the iphone community. With apps such as Graffitio, and other related chat programs; it produces a sub-culture within. One that may produce its own certain jokes about the site, or even a type of lingo only to you and that community. In it you can chat about daily things like your lifestyle, your day, movies, anything. Almost creating a world, only known by you and your VIP friends who are a part of that application.

Technology :]

Technology is something we see changing day by day. Some may consider cars to be part of the changes we face in technology and others may disagree to say cell phones, and the internet is really what technology is based upon. I consider cell phones to have experienced a big change thanks to technology. We went from old fashioned phones, having to go around in a circle to just dial the number five and without being able to go outside while being on the phone because a cord was attached. I highly doubt that phones would be as popular as they are today if a cord was still attached to the phone. Now days we all see how phones are improvised daily, we now have touch screen phones and for example the iPhone which even holds internet on it, where you can see when the next Showtime for a movie is, how much traffic there is on 495 and if there’s a different route your capable of taking in order for you not to get caught up and end up being late to work. The Internet has also had a big impact on our lives, how would we get our projects done without having to spend hours looking at all types of different books at the library, when we are now easily capable of going on Google and finding all different types of information within seconds. I mean it is obvious how much technology has improved our lives.

techh

There many different technology that is used in the U.S. the two most technology that I use in my day is my cell phone and my computer. I use both every day. If I did not have a cell phone or computer I would be lost. Both technology are part of pop culture both are very popular in the pop culture. Cell phone and computer have been around for a sometime but just got popular in the 2000.

my phone

The two of the most important technology in my life are my phone and my car. I cannot go anywhere without my car. My phone I cannot leave my house without my phone. I am constantly texting or on the phone I feel naked without it. My car gets me anywhere I need to go without my car I could not get to school work or anywhere with my friends. I would have to take the bus wherever I want to go and I would not like that. But out of everything I still feel my phone is the most important. I lost it for a day and I was buggin out trying to find it. The way I lost it was a pretty interesting story but not getting into that on here. I think cars are part of the popular part of society. This is technology that everyone would like to have. Texting is a big thing but idk if it’s really popular everywhere so I assume its sub popular on long island. Without out the technology of cell phones then I think it would not be as popular you would like have to send notes back and forth to a person. That’s not cool at all. Seeing how cars impact a lot of countries all over the world I think it is very popular. As for cell phones I don’t think everyone can care about texting or one of the needs to live life on the other hand for me it’s a need to have my cell phone. Text me =)

Technology shapes a lot in society today. It has a big impact on education because of computers that has helped people learn more easily and make things more interesting. It will show poverty because if your poor you most likely won’t have a car phone computer etc.

New Era

There are two main type of technology I use my cell phone and my computer. I use my cell phone everyday and I need it to communicate with my family and friends. It’s also good for when I am waiting somewhere like the doctor’s office and I get bored I can go one it and talk to my friends, check my Face Book, or just play a game on it. I personally can’t live without my phone I am using it most of the day I don’t even call people no more I just text them. My computer is my main source of entertainment and where I get most of my information from. I use it to listen and download music to helping me with school work. I also use it to communicate with my friends. With my computer I download all my music and make CD’s so I can bump them in my car. I also use it to get great deals when I am shopping. The internet usually has cheaper prices on items than if you go to the store. These two pieces of technology is part of sub pop culture because with a cell phone you can be mostly about anywhere and you will still be able to communicate with people and vice versa. Now your friends and family can move far away and you will still be able to talk to them. This was not possible in the olden days. The computer is one of the BIGGEST part of sub culture now instead of going to the library to research something you can stay at home go online and have most of human knowledge at your finger tips. The creation of the computer and the cell phone has to be one of the biggest parts of sub pop culture.

how amazing is technology!

Technology is pretty amazing, especially my cell phone the iphonee it has so many things in it, for example cool apps and the texting is awesome. Another cool technology Is my laptop because you can use the internet and play games and communicate with people and friends. It basically has everything you need, so that makes it pretty cool.
I use ma phone 24/7 and play ma ps3 weneva im not doin hw or workin. Cant live wit out dem phone keeps me connected wit the world and ps3 is just a bad habit I cant and don’t wanna get out of. Well we all know cell phones iz apart of popular culture and I think playstation is to or video games in general. Theres millions who play it and everyone and there mother has a phone. To be underground I think it would have be something just a one particular group of people use. Like different types of video games.

My opinions on the reading "Da word graffiti artist"

There are a few issues I think were raised in the reading Da Word graffiti artist by Tonouchi. For example. Graffiti being an art, not a crime. In the reading Haki described graffiti as vandalizing vandalism. This is one of the few issues that he mentions that I like and agree with. Also another issue that I noticed in the reading was the tension between Haki and his parents, well more of his mother always nagging him about getting a job or going to school, or moving out. I like this issue because everyone can relate to this in a way. The one thing I did not like about this reading was the language that was used. At first it wasn’t bad to read, but as the reading went on it kind of became annoying and hard to follow. But in a way it also puts a picture in your head, and puts you in the characters shoes.

RL interpretation of "da word"

· WHAT ISSUES DO YOU THINK HE RAISES?
· In the reading given of “da word” by Lee A. Tonouchi; I believe the issues that are raised include the perception of art and its many forms that are created today. Ranging from Classical types of art to the more modern forms of urban arts, such as graffiti and how it is expressed.

· WHAT ISSUES DID YOU LIKE OR DISLIKE ABOUT WHAT HE SAYS?
· I enjoyed the issues that were raised as he enters the school the narrarator himself is unsure about his art, but as he is confronted by the administrator of the college, the man expresses to Haiki that he has a wonderful use of color showing that his art, even though not the standard is just as good as the rest of the schools.

· WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE LANGUAGE USED IN THE READING AND WHAT QUESTIONS DOES THIS RAISE FOR YOU?
· I still believe about the language used in the story, whether written in his own language, still should not be written as a standard form of English. As expressive as it may be to the author and select groups of people it still shows a sub standard of the understanding of the English language. But then again it is written by the author and it is his interpretation of the story, as all “works of art” are it is to the artist and his vision that creates his masterpiece.

language of da man

Ok well I really liked / enjoyed the way he talks and or writes. Da language dat he uses is so unique and diff you just don’t read material like that ery day. I like it cause at time I catch myself talking sim to his dis, dat, da and dare talking. My gf at first just thought I was trying to talk like an idiot. but it’s just so much ezer to cut words up like he dose make em shorter and they also sound a lot cooler. It gives his writing a personality something that distances his from others writing and it also shows that he has a personality without even knowing him. When leo first intro this readin to me I read the first few lines and his lang ust made me wan to read more. His writing reminds me of texting like texting is a whole new type a talking and it has its own type of language. Just like Lee Tonouchi

Haki and his experience with graffiti

In the reading Da Word graffiti artist by Lee A. Tonouchi, Haki was the main character. Throughout the story
slang is put in action, most words are slang, perhaps to show how the characters really talk. Haki explains how others think of his art to be engagement in vandalism. Those who write “stupid” messages on walls don’t know what they are doing according to Haki, all they really do is make a bad image for the real graffiti artists. People don’t necessarily see how much work and time is put into the work that is done. Coco was Haki’s close cousin whom was a great artistic person, during art class his projects would be done way before they were technically due in order for him to do caricatures of girls in the classroom. He was so good at it he’s classmates would gather around him and ask him to make one of them, they’d even offer him money so he’d get to their first. Haki wanted to be just like Coco and when he was no longer around he still wished he was there for him to guide him and give Haki advice. Haki wasn’t able to get over how he was next to Coco most of his time and from one night to the other he was no longer there. The reason Coco was no longer present was because he had past away in a big accident. Haki’s mom always bothered him to get a job and go to school, but Haki just agreed in order for her to think he was listening.
In my opinion I thought that this reading was really difficult, it was a difficult reading I couldn’t even understand most of the words that the artist Tonouchi used even though I used that type of language with some of my friends. The issues that I think he wanted to raise where, that us people need advice and help to decide what we want to become in life. Haki was really close to his cousin Coco and when he died he have to fight for the type of work he wanted to do.

Dis Wuz Hard

First off, I thought this reading was very difficult. One of the issues in the story was Haki’s cousin Coco passing away. Haki was very close to Coco so his passing was very hard to deal with. I found it really hard to read the language he used, but I did like the words he used to describe certain things.

Haki: life of a graffiti artist

In the story Da word by Lee A. Tonouchi Haki is known as a vandalist because of what he is (graffiti artist). His parents wanted him to go to school and do something with his life but he never went to school. Also, after he went to disappointing job interviews always her mom used to say to do not throw way his life. He wanted to open his own airbrush stand in Waikiki painting portrait to the tourist but that was too commercial. He started his drawing in 8 grade, he finds out was an easy way to get money.

Why parents are rigth about going to college?

Personally, I think that the reading of (da word) is interesting in many ways. Because, you can see a situation in winch most teenagers pass through in today’s society. Also, as you read through, you learn a lot from the situation in which the writer wants you to be involved in. the example of hakis situation is very helpful for the people that are attending college today. In my personal experience with the reading , it was very helpful for me because it motivate me to be better and to consider some of the situations that I have passed through similar to this one to see it as normal . Another issue that I liked a lot was the discussion with hakis parents about going to college. Because , it gives you an understanding of the parents side of view in that particular issue and also the hakis side of view and why he is wrong on the things that he wanted to do as a young person with his life.

check this

I think the main issue that Haki brings up in this story is college and having a good paying job. I dislike that his mom is making him go to college and he is not to sure of it. I think the language that he used was hard to read but it was fun to read. The questing I have is when was this short story written and is it a true story

My Opinion is ...

I thought the language in this reading were horrible and made it difficult to get through because you had to constantly try and figure out what he was trying to write so i did not enjoy it. I thought the whole story itself was kind of boring I had no interest in it at all because nothing really caught my attention and I had to keep trying to understand what was being said that it didn’t give me a chance to really get into the story that’s why I don’t think writing in that kind of way is a good idea because it takes away from the story itself and I felt that’s what it did to me and all I wanted to do was get through the story and be done with it. The issues I think he raised are about graffiti because some people do not think graffiti is art and to him it is. I agree with him to a certain extent about graffiti being art because it all depends on what is sprayed on a wall if its murals and portraits and things like that then that’s art but if its gang tags and things of that nature then it is definitely not art.

ClasSwOrK!!!

I think the story was very interested because it refers to ma age group and more teenagers. I think a lot of people would be against graffiti and think it is vandalism but I like the drawings some people do on walls. The tagging of gangs signs and all that that’s the problem because half the time people can’t read it and it’s dumb. I don’t think anything about the way he talks in the story because it’s his writing and I understand it. I think if he didn’t write in his slang the story wouldn’t be as interesting and it help in somewhat get his point across.

reading diffierent peoples slang is harder to read and then speaking slang

I found this reading to be difficult because in the way it was written, but also interesting due to the culture of the writing and its technique. The language he uses I thought was interesting because it wasn’t in today’s proper English form. The words was in slang, "its easy to speak it but hard to read it."

Underground Art

The Word Graffiti by Tonouchi raises some issues on how Graffiti is a form of art that some people take as vandalism and how it is different than other art and not that many people appreciate it. The issue I liked that he brought up was when he was with the admissions guy from the school and he starts telling the guy of his art and how people take it as vandalism because they don’t appreciate that type of art. I also like that he stayed doing what he likes doing which is art. The language used in this reading is not Standard English it is his own Hawaiian dialect which makes the reading more interesting to read. One of the questions this reading raises for me is what was his mom’s reaction when he called her after the interview with the school was over?

do you like graffities?

Graffiti is very interesting, I like graffiti and some times when I am alone at home that’s what I like to do in my notebook. I identify with Haki arts is what I always wanted to study. But that school is really expensive and is out of the town. in the "Graffiti Artist" lecture Haki’s family wanted him to go school and they support him

pop culture

He raises on pop culture,The language that he used was fine with me, I did understand everything he was saying. It wasn’t that difficult, in some parts it was when he was using different words, that confuse me a little bit, then I catch up and realize what he was trying to say. And I liked everything he wrote and telling a story about haki.

Hard Reading

The reading we had to do was hard. It was hard bc I really couldn’t understand what the guy was saying. I guess since I’m not used to how they speak in Hawaii, it was really difficult for me to understand. I thought overall though it was a good reading. It was really sad to hear what happened to his cousin bc they were so close. I like the fact that since he was a little kid he was always drawing and making art his way. Also, when the administration’s office was asking him if he ever go arrested I thought that was kind of rude to ask him that. Obviously he’s not in jail because he was there I thought that was very irrelevant for him to ask that question. I like the fact that he wanted to be just like coco every since they were kids. Since Coco pasted away I like that Haki is now perusing being an artist.

Art or vandilism?

He raised a lot of issues one that caught my mind was the way he did not want to go to school and he thought it was a wasted of time. The only person who could really get through to him and tell him to go was his cousin coco. After coco passed away he had no one to look up to. His cousin coco was the person Haki looks up to him they were so close even though coco was older than him. Also the issue in how graffiti is a form of art and does not have to be a crime. When he asked his cousin if he could teach him, his cousin said no you have so much more to live for your gonna change the world for everyone. I do agree with graffiti being a work of art but it can also be vandalism depending on what you’re doing with it. If you’re tagging in a public place without their permission it’s a crime but, you can also put graffiti on paper and shirts like Haki. The language is not the easiest to read but it’s the language you learn when he was younger. Everyone has the own English. With your friends and your close family you use language differently than in school.
